The unveiling of Matt Smith's new co-star has now happened....

The wait for news about who will playing the 2nd companion of Matt Smith's Doctor is now at an end. It's been a long few months for Whovians since Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill announced their departure from Doctor Who, and I have speculated & asked fervently in equal measure about the identity of the actress set to run with Matt Smith, with no clear answers. Now, at long last, we have her name...

Jenna Louise Coleman (AKA Jasmine Thomas from 'Emmerdale' & Lindsey James from

'Waterloo Road')

I have yet to receive news about the character she is playing. We are unlikely to get any details until a month or so before the 2012 Xmas Special, during which she is to make her Doctor Who debut.

The wait is almost over....

It has only just been announced that the new companion of The Doctor is to be unveiled by Steven Moffat. All the guesses and wish lists I have been making are about to come to an end, as the actress that has been cast to fill the void left by Gillan's and Darvill's departure will be revealed in a press conference tomorrow morning. Once I have the name of the female performer who will be starring alongside Matt Smith, I will post it here, along what whatever details regarding this actress I can acquire...

Who will join The Doctor once Amy and Rory have gone?

As announced in December 2011, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill will leave the programme during the 33rd series in 2012, paving the way for a new female companion to join The Doctor on his adventures. So far, there has been no definite news concerning casting, but here are is my own list of actresses whom I would like to see sharing lead billing with Matt Smith.
